Development of the Health Literacy Hub

Client: Western Sydney Local Health District

THE BRIEF

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) and the Health Literacy Lab at The University of Sydney partnered to build capability in health literacy research, training, and education via a Health Literacy Hub (website) to serve the needs of a fast growing and diverse community.

WSLHD engaged ZEST to develop an online health literacy knowledge hub underpinned by best practice eHealth literacy principles.

WHAT WE DELIVERED

ZEST conducted a rapid evidence review to identify key design elements, developed the site architecture and designed the look and feel using our in-house design studio and digital teams. As part of this process, ZEST also undertook user experience and user acceptance testing.

The website uses intuitive layouts, plain language, and simplified content, structured around the users’ needs.

OUTCOMES

Consumers now have a resource to find and understand health-related information, to be able to make the best decisions about their health. For health professionals, the Hub provides access to resources on health literacy and practical tools to aid communication with patients and the public.
